Since opening 48 years ago, Gozare has become a cherished spot for both locals and visitors seeking a serene escape.

When you step inside, you're welcomed by a warm, inviting ambiance. The careful attention to detail in both the café’s decor and the presentation of its menu creates an experience that feels both nostalgic and intimate. Each cup of coffee is thoughtfully served in exquisite Shigarakiware cups, crafted by talented local artisans who pour their heart into every piece. Patrons rave about the rich flavors of the coffee, particularly the unique toarco toraja brew, a must-try for any coffee enthusiast.

The menu at Gozare reflects a commitment to quality and homemade goodness. Each cake, including their renowned cheesecake, is made by hand. ござれ is one of the cafes that captures the essence of the roots of Hikone. The same owner that founded the cafe 48 years ago is still behind the counter. Coffee is served in Shigaraki-ware cups made by local artisans, and cakes are made by hand. The shop has an understated, vibrant energy.

I had such a wonderful time at this charming café, which the friendly owner runs for around 50 years. Can highly recommend the toarco toraja coffee and homemade cheesecake.

We have a chance to come here because of a rainy day. Coffee is very good and cake is delicious. The staff is very friendly and kind too. If going to Hikone Castle, must take a cup of coffee here.
